If you wondered why things were a little quiet this week on the blog, it’s because I’m still recovering from my recent trip to Virginia and California for about 10 days. I spent a few days with my family on the east coast, headed to the west coast for my best friend’s wedding, and then back to Bavaria. Jet lag got me good this time, and I’m struggling hardcore to get back on Germany time!
I made sure to pack light for my trip because I knew I would go crazy shopping back in the States…and I did 😉 All of my OOTDs (besides my bridesmaid look) have something I bought while at Target there! I’m telling you that as a basic American girl, I never knew how much I would miss Target while being an expat.
Anyway here are all of my vacation looks (or at least the ones where I’m not wearing a sweatshirt, leggings, baseball cap, and no makeup for all the plane rides…not blogworthy!).
Shopping in Virginia
Trench – similar // Jeans // Top // Shoes // Beret // Bag – similar // Sunglasses – similar
I was expecting hot and humid for spring in Virginia…but it was actually kinda rainy and mild. So I ended up bringing a light trench with me most days and opting for closed toe shoes.
My top is only $8 (comes in several solid colors here), and my favorite jeans right now, this distressed slim straight pair, are 50% off and then another 20% off with code MAY! That makes them under $30! I love the style so much that I’m thinking about ordering this similar pair even though I know I don’t need them…lawd help me.
Visiting My Old High School
Top – similar // Jeans // Shoes // Sunglasses // Necklace
Even though I’m branching away from skinny jeans, I still ordered these distressed black Levis recently and am a huge fan. They have a higher waist and that cropped ankle hem that I just love. They’re more stretchy and less denim-y, making them lighter and easier to wear as it warms up.
And hello new black sunnies! Maybe I won’t wear my black cateye pair all the time now. Maybe 😉
Shopping with My Mom and Sister
New top, new white denim, new flats, who dis? This top is a linen blend so it’s really breathable and the ruffle sleeve is just the cutest!
Also, I love these flats for so many reasons: under $25, vegan leather with the look of real leather, and very comfortable right off the bat. I can already tell they’re going to be a spring and summer favorite.
Historic Garden Week in Richmond
Top // Jeans – similar // Shoes // Bag – similar // Trench – similar
So glad I got to go on one of the tours for Historic Garden Week! Again, the forecast was kinda rainy so I layered up with my trench and wore some full length bottoms.
This top is my first purchase from the Who What Wear line at Target…honestly I can’t decide which of the new brands there is my favorite!
P.S. Check out my post about the Seminary Avenue Tour of Historic Garden Week!
Dinner with a Friend
Top – similar, similar // Jeans – similar // Shoes // Earrings
I got this top on sale at Anthropologie (since I can only really afford to buy sale at Anthro), which means that it quickly sold out online. Sorry! But the good news is that the shoes and earrings are still in stock. In fact, I got the earrings on sale for 50% off in store, so they’ll probably be marked down online soon!
And a note on the shoes – they also come in a lower 2 inch version, a few different colors in the 2.5 inch version I’m wearing, and then a high version at 3.75 inches. I love the simple ankle strap style and that they have ones at all heights.
California Wedding
I am so proud of this bridesmaid look because the total cost of the head to toe look was under $75! The dress was $31.99, heels were under $20 on Amazon Warehouse, the headband was $12.99, and then I got the dress tailored for under $10. I’m pretty lucky that my friend was a super chill bride who let us all pick our own dresses and accessories (thanks, girl!).
The beachside wedding was awesome and I danced my little butt off all night! And had pretty bad hangover the next day on the plane…ugh.
Here’s a closeup of the shoes and headband.

There you have it! All my outfits from my vacation to the US. With all the shopping I did I almost broke the 50 lb limit for my checked baggage coming back to Germany! But hey, when you haven’t been to Target in almost 3 years I think you can go a little crazy.
