Did you guys know I went to the University of Tampa? Yep…a long time ago. It’s been a minute since I visited the city, but it will always have a special place in my heart with all the college memories I have there.
And it’s fun to visit now that I’m older and have just a bit more funds to spend out on the town. No more dollar well drinks at the old college bars!
I spent a few days down in Tampa over this past weekend and was able to catch up with my college roommates, celebrate at a bachelorette party, and soak up all that Florida sun and humidity at Busch Gardens and by the pool. And I went to my favorite restaurant of all time: Bern’s Steakhouse!
So here’s a roundup of my #OOTDs from my trip 🙂
I don’t even bother with real clothes at the airport anymore. I always sleep on the plane and I want to be comfortable! So this is what I have been wearing to the airport for ALL my trips lately. And minimal makeup because that helps keep breakouts at bay for me when I travel.
If you can’t see it in the photo, my hat has an outline of Virginia and says ‘home’ on it. I got it at WalMart a few months back, and I feel like they have a lot of cute state stuff in store. I couldn’t find this exact one online, but if you’re wanting to sport some state pride they make a lot of customizable hat on Etsy.
Dinner, Drinks, and Dessert at Armature Works
Armature Works is a really cool space in Tampa that I wish existed when I was going to school there. It’s a large warehouse facility with a bunch of different unique eateries inside, like Italian, sushi, wine bars, empanadas, and ice cream stores. It has a really fun vibe and was a great spot for a Friday night.
I wore this blue keyhole dress (you can’t see the keyhole with my wine glass in the way), trusty nude heels, and statement earrings (also hidden by my hair). For a better picture of the dress check out this post full of Amazon finds. I only brought a carry-on for the trip so these heels were worn A LOT and matched all of my dresses.
Here’s my college roommate Lauren gazingly longingly at our pesto pizza and me holding a smores ice cream. Do you see that syringe in there? It was full of chocolate sauce! I’m going to go ahead and say that a visit to Armature Works isn’t complete without ice cream from Astro.
Bier Fest at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay
Dressing for amusement parks is one of the more difficult outfit challenges out there. High-waisted shorts, a basic tank, and comfy sandals did the trick for me this day. And so did the rosé cider! Busch Gardens was having a Bier Fest, so it was much more fun for adults than it usually is. They had over 100 different beers from around the world, and this one was my fave.
The rosé cider is from Three Daughters Brewing based out of St. Pete if you’d like to try and find it.
I am also super fashionable wearing my ‘Team Bride’ pin and customized sunglasses with the bride’s wedding saying on the side. Speaking of wedding hashtags…what’s the best one you’ve ever heard? I’d love to know in the comments!
Sunday Bachelorette Brunch at Gaspar’s Grotto
I was not feeling my best this day…the morning after the bachelorette party. I swear I didn’t even drink that much, but my face isn’t that convincing! But the brunch at Gaspar’s Grotto is really impressive (the buffet has stone crab!), and you can have a lot of mimosas if that’s your thing to cure a hangover. It’s not for me.
This dress is one of my recent Target sale finds. It’s really easy to throw on and dress up or down. This bachelorette brunch was kind of dressy casual so it worked out great.
Fancy Dinner at Bern’s Steakhouse
If you visit Tampa then it should be legally required to go to Bern’s Steakhouse. I wasn’t planning on going this trip, but my mother-in-law (who knows how great Bern’s is) convinced me that I just couldn’t miss it. And I’m so glad she did! I’ve had the best steaks of my life at Bern’s, they have the largest private inventory of wine in the world (!), and they have a special dessert room. Yes, it’s own place that you go to after you’ve eaten dinner to savor the best sweet treats and drinks in the world.
This striped off the shoulder dress was the last fancy dress I had in my suitcase, so it ended up being my fine dining outfit.
After you eat dinner and before you go to the dessert room, you can go on a little tour of the Bern’s kitchen and wine storage. On the left is a photo of some of the wines they have. They have wines going back to the 1800s and worth thousands of dollars! Fancy wine people literally come to Bern’s to have the last bottles of famous wines from over the years.
On the right is me in the dessert room enjoying a Bern’s cappuccino– the coffee is soaked in Kahlua and other liquers for over 10 weeks before being made into this tasty drink! I wish I could start every morning with one 😉
And that’s the end of my Tampa outfits!
