Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a great time last night, and you’re ready to start 2017 🙂
If you haven’t heard of thredUP, it’s an online clothing store with inventory made up of gently-used, name brand items. I really love the concept of the company since it’s an environmentally-friendly and inexpensive way to shop. I’ve ordered through them once already, and you can check out the review of my first order here, as well as read some tips for getting the most out of your order. If you’re interested, there’s a link at the bottom for $10 off your first order.
This time around I ordered four items for a total of $75.95, including shipping and handling. Here’s how it turned out.
Apt. 9 Wool Coat: $19.99
I’m surprised I went for a coat again with thredUp after my experience last time, but I’m so glad I did! For being less than $20 I wasn’t expecting such a heavy coat, but this one is very substantial. I love the silver hardware and the fact that it has a belt to really cinch in my waist, too. A black coat is a great fall and winter staple, and this is definitely one that I can wear to work and with casual clothes. This is my favorite item from this order!
Gap Fleece: $11.99
I actually ordered two fleece pullovers so that I can wear them on my way to the gym in the winter. They’re warm, but light, so I can carry them around with me instead of having to get a locker at the gym. I like this Gap one better than the other one I ordered since it is more flattering. It does the trick and was a great price, so I’m happy with it.
Cooperative Coat: $28.99
I’ve talked about my love for colored coats in the past, but when I ordered a yellow one from thredUP last time it was a little too big. This red one is perfect, though! I’ve already pinned some outfit inspiration for it on my Pinterest board here. The color is beautiful and the toggles are a great detail. You seriously can’t have too many coats when you live in a place that stays cold for so long like Germany, although my husband would disagree with me on that!
Old Navy Fleece: $8.99
I prefer the grey fleece from Gap in this order, but it’s nice to have this Old Navy one, too, so that I can rotate between them. It’s nothing special, but it’s what I need for my cold runs to the gym. I just looked at the Old Navy website, and you can get fleece for as cheap as $10, so I probably won’t order something like this from thredUP again. If you’re looking for more renowned brands, they do have a lot of Colombia and North Face options on thredUP.
It’s always so nice to not have to deal with the hassle of returns. I followed some of my tips from my first post about ordering with thredUP (read it here), which helped a lot this time around. Annnnddd I actually already have another order on the way, so thredUP review#3 will be coming soon!
If you want to give thredUP a shot, you can sign up with my referral link here so we each get $10 off our next order.
Have you tried thredUP, or do you prefer to go thrifting at brick and mortar stores?
