To be honest, I’m not much of a traditional button up fan. Generally I think they’re a little too preppy and traditional for my taste. I mean, I wore them when I had an office job just because they’re a staple, but outside of work you would probably never catch me in one.
Besides a flannel in fall. But does that even count as a normal button up? I say no.
But what I can get on board with is a button up with a relaxed fit in breathable fabric. I grabbed this one at TJ Maxx for under $20 (similar here) and it’s the perfect blank canvas for other fun summer pieces. Like statement earrings, distressed shorts, straw bags, and mules. Okay a lot of other fun summer pieces.
Let’s start with the best deal of them all: the big pink tassel earrings. I know that I don’t need any more statement earrings…but I had to order them. They’re only $1.99 and adding them to my cart got me to free shipping! I’d say that’s $1.99 well spent.
P.S. Some reviewers commented that the earrings were heavy. I don’t find them to be heavy and wore them for about half a day with no issues.
These denim shorts are what I’ve been looking for all summer. I complained about my quest for the perfect shorts in last week’s shorts roundup, but I think it’s safe to say the search is over. They’re higher waisted, not too short that my cheeks are falling out, and have the right amount of distressing. They also don’t cut off circulation to my thighs when I sit down…ladies I know you know what I’m talking about!
If you aren’t in on the straw bag trend yet then I’d say it’s not too late now! I always get compliments on this bag when I go out, but since I got it from a street vendor in Colombia I can’t find anything perfectly similar online. If you’re looking for something unique and affordable, World Market has some cute straw options on sale. The straw pattern on this one almost looks like lace!
Basically you can style a classic white shirt with anything…and I chose to go on trend overload! How would you style one for summer?
