You guys know that I am always on the hunt for the best cruelty free makeup. It’s like a hobby of mine to try different brands out and find the perfect products. So when PYT Beauty sent me some of their products to try I was thrilled!
PYT Beauty is an awesome company with a lot of great principles when it comes to making cosmetics, and I ended up loving some of the products.
And as you guys know, I’m a pretty average girl when it comes to makeup. I want products I can wear to my normal Monday through Friday office, then running errands and going out to brunch on the weekend, and then for the occasional night out. You know, basic girl stuff! I don’t want “Instagram makeup” type of products or those that require a lot of fuss.
The cosmetics from PYT Beauty totally hit all these wickets for me, and I’m excited to show you what all the products look like on!
What is PYT Beauty?
What first attracted me to PYT Beauty is that they’re cruelty free, but they have a lot more going on than just that.
They have zero tolerance for BS (the bad stuff), meaning harsh chemicals and synthetic fragrances.
PYT products were released just last year after founders Mary and Amy decided to team together to create clean beauty products for their daughters and the world.
Testing Out PYT Beauty Products
I tested out PYT Beauty’s All + Nothing Concealer, Upgrade Highlighter, and two shades of the Strike Twice Lip Duo. I’ll show you before and afters, as well as share all the details on shades, how the product worked, and what my favorites are.
Here’s where I’m starting. I have on yellow color corrector under my eyes, foundation, eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara, and just a light touch of pink lipstick (I look like a zombie without some color!). I’ll be adding the PYT beauty products on top of what I have here to get to the finished look.
All + Nothing Concealer
Let me tell you up front that I’m typically not a fan of stick concealers. It’s because I have a serious dark circle problem and most stick concealers just aren’t going to cut it. But I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of coverage that the All + Nothing Concealer gives. It comes with a brush on one end, but I preferred to blend with my fingertips instead. Here’s how it looked:
I found it to blend easily and I’m also very impressed at my ability to choose the right shade online (‘light/warm’)! Ha! If you’re looking for medium coverage then this concealer is a great option. I actually wore it this week as a base concealer and added a liquid one on top to get truly full coverage.
When I mentioned falling in love with a product, this one is it. The Upgrade Highlighter in the shade ‘backstage pass’ is EXACTLY what I was looking for in a highlighter!
I told you earlier that I’m a pretty average girl, so I don’t want a highlighter that makes me look like I have radioactive cheekbones. I want something subtle, understated, and that gives just the right glow. I don’t want my coworkers to have to wear sunglasses to talk to me!
So here’s how the product looks on my skin:
It’s harder to tell in photos than in real life, but there is just the slightest glow at the top of my cheekbones. I think it’s flattering and light, which means I don’t have to worry all day that it’s too much for my normal girl life.
I will say if you are looking for more intense highlighter they do have a ‘courtside’ luminescent white shade, but if you’re like me and wanting something subtle, try either ‘backstage pass’ (what I’m wearing) or ‘front row.’
Strike Twice Lip Duo
I have made a huge realization about my cosmetics preferences lately: I don’t care much for spending time with dramatic eye looks and I’d much rather pack a punch with my lip color. It’s so much faster in the morning and requires no tiresome blending!
And I am pleased to report that the Strike Twice Lip Duos are very pigmented and statement making! They’re a combination of a lipstick and gloss in one product, and here’s how they look:
This is the shade ‘rumor’ with the gloss layered over the lipstick. I don’t actually have any lipsticks in a peachy brown shade like this, and I think it will look perfect with little bit of pink blush.
And here’s the gloss over the lipstick in the shade ‘déjà vu.’ How much do we LOVE this color? Well, I love it! If I were an assassin or a high level lawyer I would wear this lipstick every day because I feel like it has it’s own attitude.
I wore this shade out last weekend and it lasted pretty well through a light meal and drinking some beverages. I had some fading in the middle, which was easy to fix with a quick touch up.
PYT Beauty Review Verdict
Here’s the bottom line: if you want clean, cruelty free makeup for your everyday, give PYT Beauty a shot.
My personal favorites are the Upgrade Highlighter in ‘backstage pass’ and Strike Twice Lip Duo in ‘déjà vu.’ The highlighter is a great addition to my everyday routine, and the deep red lip color is an easy way for me to ramp up my normal makeup look.
Choosing clean makeup products is becoming more important to me, and I think the price point (around $16-$30) for PYT is reasonable considering the standards they have for their products.
I think PYT Beauty is a great option for real ladies needing clean products that work with their everyday routines. And no BS!
