Sad news, guys. Today is the last post in the holiday blogger collaboration series! Since Thanksgiving I’ve been linking up with a bunch of wonderful bloggers to share our outfits for special occasions, and our New Year’s Eve looks are the final ones we’ll share together.
You can get more details on everyone’s looks and read about their NYE plans at the bottom of the post.
After taking it easy the last few weeks, my husband and I (and Rascal!) are headed somewhere special for New Year’s Eve: Bratislava!
We’ve never been before (so give me some travel tips in the comments if you have), but we’re excited to see the city and go out on the town to close out 2017.
I ordered this faux wrap velvet bodysuit awhile ago, and it has ‘special occasion’ written all over it. I like that it’s not a clingy bodysuit, which would not be comfortable for me, but still has some edge to it with the low neckline.
I did use a safety pin to keep wrap portion together, since it can get a little too revealing when you’re moving around. And it’s best to wear it with mid to high rise jeans so that the bodysuit portion doesn’t show at the bottom.
If you’re not one for a bodysuit, I still firmly stand by my New Year’s Eve Outfit Formula that I posted about last year, and both this velvet ruffle cami and OTS ruffle top I have are also nice picks to pair with pants and heels for the night.
When all else fails, you can grab a new year’s headband and it will instantly make any outfit December 31st approved.
You guys know that I am anything but a makeup guru, but NYE is definitely a night when you want to kick it up a notch. I used my NYX ‘Butt “Naked” palette (great for travel, BTW) and followed this pin to get a modest smokey eye, and swiped on some Milani Lipstick in ‘Brandy Berry’ to finish it off.
I think I need to glam up my makeup more often 🙂
Everyone looks so great! I love the mix of dressy and more relaxed outfits. There are a lot of different textures and patterns in this NYE collaboration, and I hope they inspire you to wear something fun.
Ada: “New Year’s Eve is literally a few days away and I still have to finalize my plans, but no matter what I do I will settle for a girly+sexy silky camisole and a touch of leather and lace. I am loving this combination of burgundy with black – always a classic color pairing for Winter – and all the textures. Stop by the blog too, to see Vivian’s own coordinated, matchy outfit. Happy 2018 and let it shine!!”
Monica: “Y’all it’s almost 2018! Are you excited, or is it just another year for you? Regardless, Happy New Year! I’m not one to make resolutions, but there are a few that I am making this year because I have a lot of stuff to do in the new year, so might as well set some resolutions with my life goals.”
Chrissy: “Our NYE celebration changes each year. We may be gaming and setting off fireworks, chilling with friends or even falling asleep (gasp) on our own comfy sofa. I can’t remember the last time I rang in the new year with dancing, so I’m a little rusty but ready to give it a go this year!!”
Linda: “I found this skirt last year at Target after the holidays and it has been waiting in my closet for the perfect occasion. The sweater was an H&M sale also last year after the holidays. Two random pieces waiting for the special event. This year we are celebrating in Atlanta and heading to the Peach Bowl, leaving the snow and cold behind. Happy New Year and all the best to everyone’s families.”
Shelbee: “I stay in every year for New Year’s Eve, but that doesn’t stop me from dressing up and celebrating the occasion. This year I am giving the pajama/lingerie trend a try with this lacy burgundy and black dress layered under a black lace and velvet kimono. Some fun patterned fish nets, patent leather booties in wine, and sparkly jewelry complete the look. And if it really does look like pajamas, it doesn’t much matter since I am not leaving my house! I wish you all many blessings in the New Year! “
Kellyann: “We spend NYE with our closest friends. We make lots of yummy food, play games, and listen to music. We’ve been doing this for years and we always have a great time. While I want to look festive I also want to be comfortable so I chose my new sweatshirt and comfiest faux leather leggings. Happy New Year to everyone!”
Lee: “New Years – “We aren’t huge New Years Eve partiers. This year we will stay home and watch a movie like we do every year. I am sharing a second way to style the leather front leggings. Versatility is important to me when buying clothing.”
Christine: “I like to keep my NYE outfit simple and effortless. Hubby and I go out dancing so I want to be sure I’m comfortable all night! This faux-leather leggings and metallic top are perfect to ring in the New Year in style!”
