I have to admit that it’s been a struggle lately to get back into my normal groove after my 10 day vacation to the states. First there was jet lag, then laundry (which I’m still battling over a week later), my normal work, and then trying to catch up on blog stuff. All while the weather is so nice and begging me to go outside with Rascal instead of getting stuff done!
And I wish I could say that things were settling down, but not really…
Because recently we found out that we’re moving back to the US next month!
We’ve been so lucky to be able to live in Germany and travel our hearts out here in Europe over the last 3 years, but now it’s time to head back. We’ll be moving to Richmond, Virginia 🙂
While it’s sad to say auf wiedersehen to our home here, I’m really excited to be back in the States.
And if you think that leaving Europe means the end of travel for CTF, you couldn’t be more wrong. I already have a few ideas for US posts (How does “Best Rooftop Bars in Richmond” sound?), and some other international travel in the works.

Speaking of travel, we planned one last big trip for next week and I am SO EXCITED.
SICILY
That’s right. Ocean. Cannolis. Vino.
Do not disturb.
We’ll be staying in Syracuse and Taormina and I just can’t stop looking at images of how amazing it all is.
Forgive me if I don’t get one post up next week, but priorities.

Another one of our ‘lasts’ came up this past weekend: our last military ball in Germany. I posted a bit on Instagram stories and got a few questions on my dress so I thought I’d share more details here.
I didn’t get a good picture at the ball so mirror selfie it is! This off the shoulder peplum dress gives me Morticia Addams vibes in all the right ways. And it will probably be the least amount you’ve ever spent on an evening gown.
It’s not too simple and not too crazy, so you can mix it up and style it more than once. The first time I wore it I paired it with big crystal dangle earrings, red lipstick, and wore my hair in an updo. This time I wore a blue statement necklace, magenta lipstick, and my short hair in messy waves.
For sizing: I’m 5’6″ and with 4 inch heels the dress was still a tad long. A perfect fit would mean getting it hemmed just a touch, but I wasn’t tripping over myself all night. And I ordered a medium which is a little loose at the top with such an open neckline. The dress is stretchy so I think a small might have been better.
How’s that for an update?
And here’s something I’d like from you all: help with some new content over the next few weeks!
- I’m doing version 2 of the post Why Do Fashion Bloggers Do That? Comment below, email, or DM on Instagram your questions for the next one!
- After living in Germany for almost 3 years I have a lot of thoughts. Want to read about things I wish I knew before moving here?
- I’m transitioning over to cruelty free beauty products and have found some that I love, some that are meh. Are you interested in reading about cruelty free stuff?
As always, thanks for reading and providing input!
