Today we’re doing something a little different on CTF.
Instead of just me and my outfit, it’s me and my outfit and a special collaboration with Brandi K, a fellow blogging fashionista! I’ve always loved that Brandi showcased affordable, stylish clothes, and we’ve teamed up this Thursday to show you how we each style vests for fall.
Brandi and I met each other through blogging and found that we had a lot in common. We’re both Army spouses, and Brandi herself is an active duty soldier. We’re both dog moms (you have to see the picture of her cute dog Bug further down the post!), and of course we both have a passion for fashion. One of the best parts of blogging is connecting with other great people, and it’s neat to think that Brandi and I might run into each other in real life in the Army community!
Brandi and I answered some questions about ourselves on each other’s blogs, so scroll down to get to know her a little better, and then head over to her blog, Brandi K’s Dose of Inspiration, for more trendy, budget-friendly fashion.
I’ll keep the outfit talking short today so we can get to Brandi’s Q&A, but let’s talk about this pink puffer vest. I used to think puffer vests were a little too sporty for me, but now I can’t tell you how many outfits I’ve wanted to pair this vest with since I got it last week!
When you want to start layering up for the fall weather but aren’t quite ready for a coat, a puffer vest is the way to go. This pink one is fun to mix with other colors, and I think the quality is great for the price. The inside is fleece lined and overall it gives a lot of warmth. It’s the perfect blend of function and fashion!
And one last thing…this lace-up sweatshirt is oh-so-cozy and can be dressed up or down. Who else wants to buy all the lace-up tops right now?
Now let’s get to know Brandi a little bit:
How old are you?
I am 35 years young 😉
How long have you been blogging?
Since the middle to 2015, so a little over 2 years but my website is coming up on 2 years in November!
Why did you get into fashion blogging?
I was going through the toughest time in my military career as a Drill Sergeant and I needed a creative outlet to escape to. I have always loved fashion since the age of 5 and was never able to afford much until I became an adult and made my own money. I got into the community of fashion blogging through Instagram and decided to create my own blog. It has been a fun journey!
What do you do outside of blogging?
Outside of the blogging I am in the Army. I am a Staff Sargent in Aviation Operations. Due to my current duty station the high-tempo is so demanding and I find myself drained with no room for my hubbies. Nevertheless, I do my best to make time for my fashion blogging.
I understand you are married, what does your husband do for a living?
My husband is also in the Army however he is one rank above me and we operate in the same jobs but different units. I met him when I was in Germany back in 2009 and we got married in 2014.
What season do you love most for fashion?
I love the fall, haha! I think almost every fashion blogger would agree. I love it for all the layering and the cute outerwear. I love the Holiday season that comes into fashion like Halloween! Christmas and New Year is considered winter but it is still close enough to fall where it is warm enough to enjoy those Holidays with fashion. In my opinion fashion isn’t the best right after the New Year, and everyone starts longing for Spring and spring fashion to arrive.
How would you describe your personal style?
I like to think I am incredibly trendy and super dressy. My dressy/classy style has tone down over these pasts few years because casual trends is in style and I have migrated to more of those type of trends. I do love a dressy dress draped with classy jewelry. Head pieces and Hats are my favorite accessories. I like to feature styles that I wear in my day to day life. I don’t get to attend special events where I can rock a party dress but secretly I wish I did.
Tell me about Bug, how long have you had her?
I got Bug over a year ago in South Korea at a pet store in the month of April. The pet stores that were located in the town near were we lived made you want to adopt all of the dogs because they all look so depress and dirty. I bought her when she was 8 weeks old, she was the tiniest little thing. She is a Shih Tzu. She might be a tea cup Shih Tzu or a runt because she is small compared to other Shih Tzu’s.
What are some of your favorite hobbies outside of fashion?
I love to travel but I haven’t had much opportunity to do it these past few years. My love for traveling actually came from an ex-boyfriend I had while I was in Germany. I only dated him for a few months but in that time he took me to Prague and also Munich for Oktoberfest. He was all about seeing the world and I took that from him. In my 4 years living in Germany I went on to see 11 different counties. I enjoyed my time in South Korea. It was the little things that made South Korea so unique. I am all about different cultures and food! I hope to get stationed in another country again soon.
I also enjoy non-fiction books!
I like to read books about self-improvement. When I was single I used to read books about how to land a man, haha! When I was younger, I read books about the history of diseases.
I love to exercise, anything cardio is my favorite way to decompress.
Would you count wine as a hobby, haha! After a long week I enjoy kicking back with a movie and a glass of wine.
There you have it!
If you head over to Brandi’s blog, you can get all the details on her fall look with a vest and also read my answers to the Q&A.
Happy Friday Eve 😉
